In 2023, I was given the opportunity to work as a Communications and Video Production Intern for Penn State's Palmer Museum of Art. My task for the internship was to create video content through making motion graphic animations and editing recorded footage on a biweekly basis for use on the Palmer's social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
On the left (or above for vertical phone orientations) is an intro/outro bumper that was used for all videos posted on the museum's socials during my time at the internship.
For this task, I opted to use the 3D modeling software Blender to create the bumper as well as After Effects to have it transition into the official provided logo.
I sought to create a logo sequence that represented the Palmer both in terms of its function and nature as a public museum.
I wanted the letters to bear resemblance to some organized collection of objects as they first pop into frame, like books on a bookshelf. Of course, a library the Palmer Museum is not, but much like a library, a museum serves a similar function.
The color palette of the letters is a nod towards diversity and inclusion, as it is in tandem with Penn State's Commitment to Belonging as well as a tenet of a good museum.
Above is a selection of into sequences I did for social media posts for the museum.
Accidentally Wes Anderson (left): A video based off of a TikTok trend that mimics Wes Anderson's directorial style, mainly in shot composition and color grading. Shots were color graded to imitate Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. The sky was manually lengthened using Photoshop to allow for a downwards boom shot.
WeArt! (center): An intro for a 3 part video series featuring outdoor art installations in the State College area.
Palmer Wrapped (right): An intro directly emulating Spotify's Wrapped campaign in 2023. All design assets were recreated from scratch in Adobe Illustrator.
